1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of silverdatalab.com and of the research published on it. By using the website you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

SILVER DATA LAB operates this website.

How we handle personal data, including our use of cookies, is described separately in our Privacy Policy.

2. What this website is

Silver Data Lab publishes statistical studies derived from official European statistics. Each study states the dataset it draws on, the filters applied, the date of extraction and the limitations of the underlying series.

The site is a research publication. It is not a data feed, an advisory service, or a substitute for the primary sources it cites.

3. Using our content

3.1 Two layers, two sets of rights

What you find on this website consists of two distinct layers, and different rules apply to each.

The underlying statistics are produced and published by Eurostat and other official statistical authorities. We do not own them and cannot grant rights over them. Their reuse is governed by the policy of the authority that published them — in Eurostat’s case, reuse is permitted provided the source is acknowledged. Each study links to the dataset it uses, so you can always go to the original.

Our contribution is the part we created: the written analysis, the commentary and interpretation, the selection and arrangement of indicators, the derived statistics we calculate, the charts, and the structure of each study. These are protected by copyright and, where applicable, by database rights. They are ours to license, and we license them openly.

3.2 Licence

Our contribution is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0).

You are free to copy, redistribute, adapt and build upon our content, for any purpose including commercial purposes, provided you give appropriate credit as set out below. The licence is irrevocable for material published while it was in force.

If you reuse the underlying statistics as well, you must also acknowledge the statistical authority that produced them.

3.3 How to credit us

The minimum credit, wherever our content or figures are reproduced:

Where a specific study is used, please cite it in full:

Where the medium allows, please make the credit a working link to the page you used. Where it does not — in print, in broadcast, or in a spoken answer — the text form above is sufficient.

Two conditions apply to any reuse:

• Do not alter our figures. You may quote, summarise, reformat and build upon our analysis. You may not change a number and continue to attribute it to us.
• Do not imply endorsement. Crediting us as a source does not mean we have reviewed, approved or endorsed your work, and you should not present it as though we had.

3.4 What the licence does not cover

The name Silver Data Lab, our logo and our visual identity are not covered by the licence above. You may name us as a source, which is exactly what the credit requires. You may not use our name or marks as though they were your own, or in a way that suggests an association, partnership or endorsement that does not exist.

3.5 Automated access and AI systems

Our studies are written to be read, quoted and cited, including by search engines, assistants and other automated systems. Indexing our content, extracting figures from it, and citing it in generated answers are permitted under the licence in section 3.2, on the same attribution terms that apply to a human reader.

Where a generated answer draws on our work, the credit should name Silver Data Lab and, where the medium supports it, link to the study used.

Automated access must not degrade the service for others. Do not issue requests at a rate that places an unreasonable load on the site, and do not attempt to circumvent technical limits we may apply.

4. Accuracy, corrections and warranties

We take the accuracy of our published figures seriously. Every study names its source dataset, its filters and its extraction date so that any figure can be traced back and verified independently.

We nonetheless publish without warranty. Statistical series are revised by the authorities that produce them, provisional observations are superseded, methodologies change, and errors are possible in any editorial process. We do not warrant that the content is complete, current, uninterrupted or free from error, and we make no warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Corrections. If you believe a figure or a statement on this website is wrong, write to info@silverdatalab.com. We will check it against the source data. Where a published figure turns out to be incorrect, we will correct it and note the correction on the study, with its date.

5. Not professional advice

Our studies describe populations. They are not investment, financial, legal, tax, medical or policy advice, and nothing published here is a recommendation to take or refrain from any particular action.

Decisions with real consequences should rest on the primary sources, on the full series rather than on the summary figures we highlight, and where appropriate on qualified professional advice.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

• use the website in a way that breaks the law or infringes the rights of others;
• misrepresent our findings, or attribute to us statements or figures we have not published;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its infrastructure or any account;
• interfere with the operation of the site, including by overloading it or introducing malicious code;
• remove or obscure attribution, copyright notices or source links from material you reuse.

7. Links to other websites

Our studies link to Eurostat and to other external sources. Those websites are outside our control. We link to them because they are the primary sources for the figures we publish, not as an endorsement of everything they contain, and we are not responsible for their content or their practices.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the website available and up to date, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, including individual studies, at any time.

Studies are periodically updated as new data is released. When a study is updated, the date of the last revision is shown on the page. Where you rely on a figure, record the date on which you accessed it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the content of this website, including any loss of profit, business, contracts or anticipated savings, and any indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed, and the version in force at the time of your use is the one that applies. Changes do not affect the licence already granted over material published under earlier terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the courts of Sofia have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If you use this website as a consumer resident in another EU Member State, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of the country where you live.
